Discover our exceptional day nursery
Millfield children thrive in an environment where they are able to mix with other children of different ages, just like they would in everyday life outside of the nursery. Millfield has always provided a family-based environment offering three large indoor rooms where children of all ages can play together and learn from each other.

Our outstanding outdoor play area offers exceptional resources such as wooden adventure climbing area, an abundance of slides, swings and even a pirate ship! The nursery’s acres of fields and wildflower meadows tempt children to discover the wonderful world around them. The children love feeding the tame Alpacas and watching the ducks and chickens foraging in the fields. There is always plenty of natural wildlife and birds to see, including our resident Little Owl!
Our Baby Room

Our new purpose built baby room ‘Millfield Babies’ launched in September 2020 offering care for our very youngest children. Millfield Babies has been designed to look after each child’s specific needs in a calm and serene environment. We offer a wide variety of age appropriate toys and activities in a large and spacious room with a separate carpeted area for our very youngest children to play and also sleep in safety in our sleep pods We have a separate room for nappy changing and baby care facilities.

Each child has their own daily diary which is completed throughout the day providing information about eating, sleeping, changing routines and activities enjoyed. All meals are freshly made each day on the premises to ensure each child’s nutritional requirements are met.

Millfield Babies offers the following facilities:
• Carpeted area for our younger children to play and sleep

Quiet Room

The Quiet Room is our dedicated preschool area. We provide a sound start for your child by encouraging early preschool skills in reading, writing, letter sounds and maths. We arrange a wide range of planned play opportunities which enable the children to learn through practical hands-on experiences. These include:
  • Playing board games, jigsaws, sorting and matching activities, number games and activities to develop early problem-solving, reasoning, numeracy, communication, language and literacy skills
  • Other early preschool skills in writing, reading and letter sounds are recorded in a series of activity books designed and provided by the nursery. Children are motivated to work at their own pace and at a level which is relevant to them. Completed books are sent home so parents can see the progress their child is making. Reading books, if and when appropriate, are provided by the nursery
  • We have a library where children aged three and above can choose a book each week to share with parents

Fitness and fun

Millfield offers weekly dance, sport and exercise classes to all children at no extra cost

Each week a motivational sports leader from Urban Movement Primary, visits Millfield and promotes learning through a variety of sporting activities and challenges aimed at developing the motor abilities of Agility, Balance and Co-ordination. These ‘ABCs’ are useful as they form the basics of all sports and physical activities.

Each session is centred in developing fitness and fundamental movement skills. And because it’s fun, the children don’t realise they are practicing and learning new skills!

In addition, dance is taught each week by Miss A Aram.

The sport and dance classes are very popular with all the children!
“The wonderful staff and environment are beyond what we could have hoped. They are so kind, caring and the level of education is perfect.”
