A very warm welcome to our Day Nursery and Pre-School

Millfield Nursery School at Cropwell Butler was established in 1989 and is situated south of Nottingham in a beautiful rural setting within its own wonderful 8 acres of countryside, wildflower meadow and copse.

We provide full day care and pre-school facilities within easy driving distance of Bingham, Cotgrave and Radcliffe-on-Trent.

Could it be because we are not like your average nursery? Millfield is a very special place for children age 2-5 years. Here's why...

The family-based environment

The typical model of most nurseries is where children are separated by age into different areas or rooms. But children thrive in an environment where they are able to mix with other children of different ages, just like they would do in everyday life outside of the nursery. Millfield has always provided a family based environment offering three large indoor rooms where children of 2-5 years can play together.

Every child is an individual

Children develop more and at a faster rate at pre-school age than at any other time in their lives. Each child develops at a different rate and in different ways. The Millfield environment provides the ideal surroundings for a child to develop as an individual and in ways relevant to them, rather than in a preconceived way. All of our children are special. No wonder the children at Millfield are so happy!

Idyllic, unbeatable outdoor space

The great outdoors has always been our passion and children adore the exciting outdoors too! Our outstanding play area offers exceptional resources. The acres of fields with wildflower meadows tempt children to discover the wonderful world around them. In our fields there is always an abundance of natural wildlife and birds to see! How would your child like to feed gentle Alpacas, see Kunekune (micro) pigs and chickens, and have great fun watching Indian Runner Ducks foraging for worms and slugs? A little person’s heaven!

Indoor play and pre-school

The great indoors at Millfield is equally as exciting! Each of our three large rooms offers a different type of play opportunity: creative and imaginative, physical play and in addition, a pre-school room, which enables children to learn those important early skills which set them on the road to the more formal environment of primary school – and we promise that they will love every minute of the learning process!

Children can attend Millfield for as little as 2 part time sessions each week or can attend full days or full time.

Free Childcare Advice

Not all nurseries are the same and when looking for a nursery for your child/children we would advise you visit a number of provisions before making your final decision. That way you can be sure you have made the right choice. To appreciate how different we are, we highly recommend you visit Millfield to experience first-hand the warm, caring, family atmosphere we provide.

In the Vale of Belvoir, on the border of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire, there is a choice of childcare options for parents. These include private day nurseries, nursery schools, full day care, pre-schools, playgroups and nurseries offering part time sessions for social interaction. There are however only a limited number of provisions.
